Update July 5th, 12:45PM: According to some media reports from China, Asus ROG would be showcasing X570 motherboard series and 30th anniversary PRIME X299 Edition 30 in China. As it is not clear from the poster, we expect the launch of Asus ROG Phone 2 alongside the new motherboards.

It’s common knowledge among smartphone enthusiast circles that ASUS will soon launch its second-generation gaming-focussed smartphone, the ROG Phone 2, sometime this month. It was reported earlier this week that the phone could be launched on 23 July, but we can now confirm that the rumored date turned out to be true.

A teaser image has been published by the Taiwanese company on the Chinese social media website Weibo. The teaser showcases the date, time, and location where ASUS’ press conference will happen. It also teases a collaboration between ASUS’ Republic Of Gamers (ROG) brand and China’s internet giant Tencent Games, which is also the publisher of superhit game PUBG Mobile. ASUS could also showcase other gaming-focused products like gaming laptops and peripherals at the event.

ASUS ROG Phone 2 Launch Date

The ASUS ROG Phone 2 is rumored to come with an improved screen in the form of a Super AMOLED panel with 120Hz refresh rate. It was also revealed yesterday that the ROG Phone 2 will have a horizontally placed dual-camera setup on the rear. The phone will come with either 18W charger or a 30W charger, depending on the variant (I001DA and I001DB). The phone also passed through CCC certification, pointing towards a launch date that’s very close now. The phone will most probably be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 SoC, at least 6GB of RAM, and at least 128GB of internal storage space.

Similar to the original ROG Phone, the second-generation phone could sport RGB lighting, 4K 60fps video recording, active cooling accessories, specialized tools to enhance the gaming experience, tools for recording and broadcasting gaming sessions, stereo speakers, and touch-sensitive shoulder buttons.
