Samsung drastically changed its Galaxy A series this year both in terms of the feature set and pricing strategy of models in the range. Now that most of 2019 is over, we’re looking forward to the next iteration and we’ve got some exclusive information regarding the Galaxy A51. The successor to the very successful Galaxy A50 is expected to be coming soon after the Galaxy A50s which is another iteration of the original A50 model and has some minor upgrades. The exact dates of the launch are not known yet but Ishan Agarwal who is the source of the information states that it is coming soon.
Coming to specifications, the Galaxy A51 will feature a 6.5-inch Super AMOLED display powered by a 4,000mAh battery. The main camera is tipped to be a 48MP sensor while the front selfie shooter will be a 32MP sensor. The phone is expected to run One UI 2.0 with Android 10 out-of-the-box. Now, if this is indeed the hardware, then the Galaxy A51 doesn’t seem to all too different from the Samsung Galaxy A50s. However, we still do not know its processor type and rear camera setup.
Based on available information, the Galaxy A51 is already under production at Samsung’s facility in Greater Noida, UP. Leaked images of the phone’s bare chassis revealed a USB Type-C port, 3.5mm audio jack, as well as space for a dedicated microSD card slot. The leaked chassis also revealed a waterdrop notch design on the front and it looks like we won’t be seeing any design-related changes on the new A-series phone whatsoever. However, a quad-camera setup is expected at the back.
The Samsung Galaxy A51 has previously appeared on Geekbench, revealing its model number SM-A515F, and apparently, the processor which is likely to be the 10nm FinFET Exynos 9611 SoC aided by a Mali-G72 MP3 GPU. We expect the Galaxy A51 to launch in the first quarter of 2020.
