The much-awaited Nokia 9 PureView flagship smartphone will finally be going official at HMD Global’s Mobile World Congress 2019 press conference in Barcelona on February 24. Ahead of its formal launch, the Nokia 9 PureView today popped up on the Geekbench benchmark database.
Nokia 9 PureView Geekbench Listing Confirms Snapdragon 845 SoC, 6GB RAM
While the Nokia 9 PureView has been spotted on the Geekbench benchmark database earlier, this is the first time that the listing includes the marketing name of the smartphone. According to the listing, Nokia 9 will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 octa-core processor under the hood. Most of its rivals, however, will be powered by Qualcomm’s latest 7nm Snapdragon 855 SoC instead. The Snapdragon 855-powered version of the Nokia 9 is expected to be launched sometime later this year. In the memory department, Nokia 9 PureView will come equipped with 6GB of RAM, which is again slightly disappointing when compared to other flagship smartphones that are expected to be launched soon. The Geekbench listing also confirms that the Nokia 9 PureView will be running on the Android 9.0 Pie operating system out of the box.
As for benchmarking performance, the Nokia 9 PureView scored 2,269 points in the single-core test and 8,793 points in the multi-core test. The scores are in line with what is expected from a smartphone powered by the Snapdragon 845 chipset. Needless to say, the Nokia 9 PureView will not be anywhere near as impressive as its Snapdragon 855-powered rivals when it comes to benchmarking performance. In the camera department, however, the Nokia 9 PureView is expected to be a lot more impressive. The Nokia 9 PureView will be equipped with a penta-camera setup on the back with Zeiss optics. While specific details are not available yet, a recent leak had suggested the smartphone will be able to capture 64MP resolution stills and can use all five cameras at the same time. Some of the other rumored specifications of the upcoming flagship include a 5.99-inch 2K display and an In-display fingerprint sensor. The Nokia 9 PureView will be launched in Barcelona on February 24 at 16:00 local time. HMD Global will be live streaming the launch event on YouTube as well as Facebook.
