As most of you may have heard already, Huawei sub-brand Honor is holding a launch event in China next week to unveil the Honor V20. The company will be holding a separate launch event in Paris on January 22 to introduce the global variant of the smartphone. Ahead of the launch event in China, we have got our hands on a press render of the Honor V20. As confirmed by the numerous teasers released by Honor in the recent past, the smartphone will have a punch hole on the top left corner of the display to house the front-facing camera.
Honor’s First Smartphone With a Punch Hole Display
The Honor V20 press render reveals a design that looks nearly identical to the Huawei Nova 4 that was launched in China earlier this week. Both smartphones have a circular cutout for the camera in the top left corner of the display, which makes it possible to maximize the screen real estate. Apart from the official render, we have also received a tip claiming the smartphone will be offered in three colors – Blue, Red, and Black. We expect the Honor V20 to have a similar screen-to-body ratio as the Nova 4. The V20 is rumored to feature an identical 6.4-inch LCD display as the Nova 4 with 1080 x 2310 pixels Full HD+ resolution.
Unlike the Huawei Nova 4, the Honor V20 will be powered by HiSilicon’s latest flagship mobile processor, the Kirin 980. Manufactured on a 7nm process, the Kirin 980 is an absolute beast when it comes to performance. Honor has also confirmed that the handset will be fueled by a large 4000mAh capacity battery, which means you can expect it to deliver impressive battery life. The single selfie snapper housed within the punch hole will be a 25MP unit with a host of AI-assisted features. At the rear, Honor V20 will feature a triple-camera setup with a 48MP Sony IMX586 primary sensor.
In the memory department, Honor V20 is expected to be available in multiple configurations with up to 8GB of RAM. The base variant of the smartphone, however, is rumored to pack 6GB of RAM. It will also come with 22.5W fast charging support, dual-frequency GPS, and AI-powered YOYO assistant. As for software, the Honor V20 will ship with the Android 9.0 Pie-based EMUI 9.0 out of the box.
