The Wi-Fi Alliance has certified multiple variants of the Samsung Galaxy J3 (2018) running Android Pie. Even though Samsung has not confirmed any specific timeline just yet, the certifications suggest the Galaxy J3 (2018) variants sold in the US will soon receive the stable Pie update.

Samsung Galaxy J3 Aura, J3 Orbit, J3 Achieve, and Verizon J3 (2018) to Receive Pie Update

The Galaxy J3 (2018) variants certified running Android Pie include the SM-J337R4 (Galaxy J3 Aura), SM-S367VL (Galaxy J3 Orbit 2018), SM-J337P (Galaxy J3 Achieve), and SM-J337VPP (Verizon Galaxy J3 2018). Now that these four versions have been certified running on Android Pie, we can be certain that they will receive the stable update in the near future. Samsung usually does not roll out more than one major OS update for its budget smartphones, so the Android Pie update will be the last major update that these four models will receive. What remains to be seen is if they will get Samsung’s new One UI with the Pie update.

Announced in June last year, Samsung Galaxy J3 (2018) sports a 5.0-inch LCD display featuring 720 x 1280 HD resolution and a 16:9 aspect ratio. It is powered by Samsung’s in-house developed Exynos 7570 quad-core chipset clocked at 1.4 GHz with a Mali-G720 GPU taking care of graphics processing. When it comes to the memory department, Galaxy J3 (2018) is equipped with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. On the back of the phone is an 8MP primary camera with an f/1.9 aperture. The entry-level Android smartphone has a 5MP snapper on the front, clubbed with an f/2.2 aperture. Connectivity features supported by the phone include Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2 Low Energy, GPS with A-GPS, and a MicroUSB port. Keeping the lights on is a 2600mAh removable Li-Ion battery.
