Update (February 18, 2019): After getting certified by the Russian EEC certification agency earlier this month, the upcoming ‘CPH1917’ smartphone from OPPO has now bagged Wi-Fi certification. The Wi-Fi certification reveals the smartphone will debut with the Android 9.0 Pie operating system out of the box, likely running the manufacturer’s ColorOS 6.0 user-interface on top. In addition to the operating system, the Wi-Fi certification also tells us the ‘CPH1817’ will support Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac. While the identity of the smartphone is yet to be established, there is a possibility of it being the rumored F11. The OPPO F11 is expected to be launched alongside the F11 Pro very soon. OPPO India has already started teasing the F11 Pro, confirming the presence of a dual-camera setup on the back with a 48MP main sensor. The F11 Pro is also confirmed to come with the ‘Super Night Mode’ feature to allow users to capture brilliant photos in low-light. OPPO F11 Pro will also have a pop-up selfie camera design, very similar to the one on Vivo’s upcoming V15 and V15 Pro smartphones. While OPPO has revealed quite a few headline features of the F11 Pro already, the key features and specifications of the standard F11 still remain a mystery.
Russian certification agency EEC today certified two upcoming OPPO smartphones bearing model numbers CPH1909 and CPH1917. While the CPH1909 could be the upcoming OPPO F1, there is no information available regarding the CPH1917 model number currently.
OPPO CPH1909 and CPH1917 Smartphones Pass EEC Certification in Russia
The EEC certification suggests the CPH1909 and CPH1917 smartphones might go official very soon. Unfortunately, however, the EEC certification does not tell us anything regarding the hardware specifications of the two handsets. The OPPO F11 Pro was recently certified by the NBTC certification agency in Thailand with the model number CPH1969. This makes it highly unlikely that the CPH1917 could turn out to be the OPPO F11 Pro. It could instead be another upcoming budget or mid-range smartphone from OPPO for the global market.
Several live images showing an upcoming OPPO smartphone had leaked on the web recently, showing a pop-up selfie camera design similar to the Vivo NEX. Thanks to the pop-up selfie snapper, the F11 will not feature any notch or a punch hole in the display. Apart from the pop-up selfie camera, the live images also revealed a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor and a dual-camera setup on the back. Some rumors claim the OPPO F11 and F11 Pro would be the company’s first smartphones to feature the 10x hybrid optical zoom technology that was introduced in China a few weeks back. OPPO is expected to showcase the 10x hybrid optical zoom technology at the Mobile World Congress 2019 in Barcelona next month. There are speculations that the F11 and F11 Pro smartphones may be introduced a few days before MWC 2019 this year. As suggested by the names of the smartphones, the OPPO F11 and F11 Pro will be direct successors to the current OPPO F9 and F9 Pro models. In addition to a different design, we expect the upcoming F-series smartphones to offer a few other major upgrades as well.
