OPPO today announced on Weibo that it will be launching the successor to the OPPO K1 in China on May 23. Just like its predecessor from last year, the OPPO K3 will come with an under-display fingerprint reader. In many areas, however, the K3 will be an impressive upgrade over the K1.
OPPO K3 Launching in China Next Week
The OPPO K3 launch poster confirms the smartphone will be powered by a 10nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 octa-core processor. In comparison, the OPPO K1 runs on a 14nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 AIE chipset. The launch event will begin on May 23 in China at 14:00 local time.
OPPO K3 was recently spotted on the China Telecom website, which confirmed some of the smartphone’s key features and specifications. According to the listing, the OPPO K3 will have a 6.5-inch display with 1080 x 2340 pixels resolution. Going by the display resolution listed on the China Telecom website, the phone will use a 19.5:9 aspect ratio. The listing also revealed that the OPPO K3 will have a Snapdragon 710 chipset, coupled with 8GB of RAM. However, rumors suggest OPPO will sell the K3 in a 6GB RAM variant as well. As for storage, the 8GB RAM variant of the OPPO K3 will come equipped with 128GB internal storage.
Moving on to the camera department, OPPO K3 will sport a 16MP + 2MP dual-camera setup on the back. For selfies, the OPPO K3 will have a 16MP popup selfie camera similar to the OPPO Reno series phones. We can expect both the front and rear cameras to come with several AI-powered enhancements and features to improve the camera experience for users. While the exact battery capacity has not been confirmed, the China Telecom listing confirmed support for OPPO’s proprietary VOOC 3.0 Flash Charge technology. The OPPO K3 will be available in three gradient colors: Nebula Purple, Dark Blue, and Morning White.
