OPPO had released a new poster on its Weibo account earlier this week, confirming the launch of a new version of its R17 and R17 Pro smartphones. The OPPO R17 and R17 Pro New Year’s Edition smartphones are set to be launched in the manufacturer’s home market on December 17. Ahead of the launch event, we have learned a few key details regarding the upcoming device from a trusted source.
OPPO R17, R17 Pro New Year’s Edition Will be Available in Only a Single Color
We can now confirm that the OPPO R17 and R17 Pro New Year’s Edition will be available only in a single color option – Red. While we do not have any more information regarding the design, the two smartphones may come with a few unique touches to help differentiate them from the regular R17 and R17 Pro variants.
As for the memory configuration, OPPO R17 New Year’s Edition will be available with 6GB RAM and 128GB of internal storage, while the R17 Pro New Year’s Edition will come equipped with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. The rest of the key details, including the pricing, remain a mystery at this point. However, we don’t expect the New Year’s Edition of the R17 and R17 Pro to carry any significant premium over the regular variants.
The OPPO R17 features a large 6.4-inch AMOLED display with 1080 x 2280 Full HD+ resolution, Corning Gorilla Glass 6 protection, and a 19:9 aspect ratio. It runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 670 octa-core processor clocked at up to 2.0 GHz with an Adreno 615 GPU. In terms of optics, the R17 sports a 16MP + 5MP dual-camera setup at the rear and a 25MP snapper on the front. Some of the other key features of the smartphone include an In-display fingerprint sensor and a 3500mAh capacity battery with VOOC Flash Charge technology.
OPPO R17 Pro sports an identical-sized 6.4-inch AMOLED display as the R17 but offers a slightly higher 1080 x 2340 Full HD+ resolution and a taller 19.5:9 aspect ratio. Under the hood, R17 Pro is powered by a more powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 710 octa-core SoC, clubbed with an Adreno 616 GPU. In the camera department, it features an impressive 12MP + 20MP + TOF 3D stereo camera setup at the rear and a 25MP selfie snapper. The R17 Pro is fueled by a slightly larger 3700mAh capacity battery with OPPO’s SuperVOOC Flash Charge technology.
