OPPO Vice President Shen Yiren today shed some light on the specifications of the company’s upcoming flagship smartphone. In a post on Weibo, Yiren confirmed that the next OPPO flagship will come equipped with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 7nm processor.
OPPO’s Next Flagship Will Offer 10X Hybrid Zoom
The powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 chipset will not be the only key highlight of OPPO’s upcoming flagship smartphone. Its main highlight will be 10x hybrid zoom and a large 4065mAh capacity battery. The executive believes the combination of a powerful Snapdragon 855 SoC, 10x hybrid zoom camera, and a 4065mAh will help differentiate OPPO’s offering from other 2019 flagship smartphones. However, the 10x hybrid zoom camera and a large 4065mAh battery would also mean that the OPPO flagship may not be as thin as some of its rivals.
It should be noted that OPPO had showcased a smartphone featuring 10x optical zoom with a periscope system at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona last month. The device showcased at MWC 2019 also featured a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor, 8GB of RAM, 256GB of internal storage, and a 4065mAh capacity battery. It is certainly possible that the final retail version of the smartphone will not look very different from the device OPPO displayed in Barcelona, at least in terms of hardware specifications. In terms of design, the prototype featured a regular notch at the top instead of a waterdrop notch or a sliding camera module. The final version will likely have a nearly bezel-less design with no notch or punch-hole in the display.
OPPO had introduced its flagship Find X smartphone with a motorized sliding camera design in June last year. Since the company has not announced any plans of holding a launch event this month, we can expect the Find X successor to debut sometime in the second quarter of the year.
