Honor President Zhao Ming recently confirmed that the company will launch the 5G-enabled V30 flagship smartphone next month. However, according to a new leak, Huawei too is planning to launch a 5G-enabled smartphone soon. A Chinese tipster on Weibo has claimed that a 5G Huawei smartphone bearing model number WLZ-AN00 has been certified by China’s MIIT certification agency.

The certification seems to suggest the smartphone’s launch may be imminent. Some are speculating that the phone could be unveiled soon after the Honor V30 series is launched next month and is likely to be called the Nova 6 5G. Under the hood, Nova 6 5G is expected to run on HiSilicon’s Kirin 990 5G chipset, which offers an integrated 5G modem.

Even though Honor is yet to officially confirm the launch date, it is being rumored that the V30 series could debut on November 26 in China. Since the Huawei Nova 6 5G is expected to launch sometime after the Honor V30 series, it could debut in China in December. Aside from the fact that it will be powered by a Kirin 990 5G chip, there is nothing else that we know about the phone at this point.

Going by the name, however, the phone will be a successor to the Nova 5 Pro that was launched in June. The Nova 5 Pro comes with a 6.39-inch OLED display featuring a teardrop notch at the top. The phone has a quad-camera setup at the rear with a 48MP primary sensor and an impressive 32MP selfie camera on the front. We expect the Nova 6 5G to come with a similar quad-camera setup, although it remains to be seen if the newer model will come with a bigger display.
