A recent rumor out of China had claimed Realme might debut the Realme X smartphone in China on May 15. The OPPO spin-off brand has now officially confirmed that its new Realme X will be formally launched in China at an event in Beijing on May 15. The smartphone will be available for purchase from leading Chinese e-commerce websites such as JD.com, Tmall, and Suning.
Realme X Expected to Feature a 6.5-inch Full HD+ Display and 48MP Dual Camera
The Realme X is going to be the company’s first offering in the mid-range segment. Until now, Realme has focused solely on the entry-level and budget segments. The Realme X is expected to arrive with a 6.5-inch display featuring Full HD+ resolution and a tall 19.5:9 aspect ratio. It will also be Realme’s first smartphone to have an In-display fingerprint sensor. Rumors suggest the smartphone will be powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 730 octa-core processor, which would make it significantly more powerful than the Realme 3 Pro.
With regards to optics, the Realme X is tipped to feature a dual-camera setup on the back with a 48MP resolution primary sensor. For selfies, the upcoming smartphone will have a pop-up snapper similar to the OPPO Reno series. The resolution of the selfie snapper, however, is yet to be revealed. TENAA had certified the RMX1901 variant of the Realme X last month, confirming the display size and a 3680mAh battery capacity. Similar to the Realme 3 Pro, the Realme X is expected to come with OPPO’s VOOC 3.0 fast charging technology. In terms of software, the Realme X is more or less confirmed to ship with the ColorOS 6.0 version based on Android 9 Pie. Along with the Realme X, we expect Realme to launch the Realme 3 Pro as well in China on May 15. The Realme 3 Pro made its global debut in India last month.
