Samsung Galaxy A6 SM-A600GN Wi-Fi Certification Android Pie

Samsung recently updated its Android 9.0 Pie updated roadmap, which confirmed that the Galaxy A6 (2018) and Galaxy A6+ (2018) smartphones will be updated to the latest Android version starting in March this year. The Galaxy A6 (2018) has now been certified by the Wi-Fi Alliance, which confirms that the update will indeed begin rolling out before the end of the current quarter. Its more expensive sibling, the Galaxy A6+ (2018) had also been certified by the Wi-Fi Alliance running Android Pie a few days back.

Samsung Galaxy A6 (2018) Android Pie Update Set to Roll Out in March

The Wi-Fi certification has been granted to the SM-A600GN/DS variant of the Galaxy A6 (2018), which will likely be among the first variants to receive the stable Android Pie update in March. Since it is a major OS update, not all Galaxy A6 users are likely to receive the Android Pie update by March-end. Major OS upgrades are always rolled out in phases by manufacturers, which means only a small group of users receive the update during the initial push. After a week or two, the update becomes available for a larger group of users. Some others, however, may end up waiting longer to receive the update.

In addition to the core OS upgrade, the Pie update for the Galaxy A6 (2018) and Galaxy A6+ (2018) smartphones is also expected to bring along Samsung’s new One UI custom user-interface. The latest iteration of Samsung’s custom user-interface is even lighter than the Samsung Experience 9.5 UX introduced last year and comes with several optimizations for one-handed usage as well as a few other changes.

Launched in May last year, the Samsung Galaxy A6 comes with a 5.6-inch Super AMOLED display featuring 720 x 1480 HD+ resolution. It is powered by the company’s in-house developed Exynos 7870 octa-core processor with a Mali-T830 MP1 GPU. Some other key features of the mid-range handset include a 16MP rear camera with an f/1.7 aperture lens, 16MP selfie camera, rear-mounted fingerprint sensor, rear-mounted fingerprint sensor, and a non-removable 3000mAh capacity battery. It was launched with the Android 8.0 Oreo operating system out of the box.
