Samsung launched its very first Android Go smartphone in August last year. Dubbed Galaxy J2 Core, the smartphone shipped with Android Oreo (Go Edition) out of the box. The South Korean electronics giant is now gearing up to launch another Android Go smartphone soon. While its marketing name still remains unconfirmed, the Galaxy A-series Android Go smartphone with model number SM-A260F has now been certified by the Wi-Fi Alliance.
Samsung’s Galaxy A-Series Android Go Smartphone May Launch Soon
The SM-A260F Bluetooth certification reveals the upcoming Android Go smartphone from Samsung will run Android Oreo (Go Edition) out of the box. This is certainly very disappointing as Android Go smartphones announced by a few other Android OEMs this year ship with Android Pie (Go Edition) instead of the older Android Oreo (Go Edition). However, this is not surprising as the SM-A260F was caught on Geekbench running Android 8.1 Oreo a few weeks back. It remains to be seen if Samsung will release an update to Android Pie (Go Edition) soon after the smartphone goes on sale.
Going by the previous Geekbench leak, the upcoming Galaxy A-series Android Go smartphone from Samsung will be powered by the octa-core Exynos 7870 chipset. The 14nm processor also powers the Samsung Galaxy M10, which was launched in January this year. Like other Android Go devices, the Samsung SM-A260F will include only 1GB of RAM. As for storage, we expect it to come with 16GB of internal memory and a microSD card slot for further expansion.
We have also spotted a support page for the upcoming Galaxy A20 smartphone. The SM-A205/DS support page on Samsung’s India website suggests the handset may debut in the country soon. However, this is not the first time that a support page for the Galaxy A20 has been spotted on an official Samsung website. Last month, a support page for the SM-A205FN/DS variant had been spotted on Samsung’s Russia website. Since Samsung has confirmed that it plans to launch a new Galaxy A-series smartphone every month in India till June, there is a good chance that the Galaxy A20 may debut before the end of the month.
