Vivo today quietly launched a new Y-series smartphone in China, dubbed Vivo Y3. The new budget Android smartphone from Vivo may not be class-leading in terms of performance but does have quite a few impressive features. The main highlights are the triple cameras on the back and the massive 5000mAh capacity non-removable battery.
Vivo Y3 Specifications
The Vivo Y3 comes with a 6.35-inch waterdrop notch display boasting a high 89% screen-to-body ratio and 720 x 1544 HD+ resolution. It runs on a MediaTek Helio P35 octa-core processor clocked at up to 2.3 GHz, coupled with 4GB RAM and 128GB onboard memory. The smartphone includes a microSD card slot as well, allowing further expansion up to 256GB.
For optics, there is a triple-camera setup on the back of the phone with a 13MP primary sensor, 8MP wide-angle snapper, and a 2MP depth sensor. The smartphone is equipped with a 16MP front-facing camera clubbed with an f/2.0 aperture. Both the front and rear cameras on the Vivo Y3 offer several AI-powered enhancements.
When it comes to battery life, the Vivo Y3 is expected to be more impressive than most of its rivals. It packs a massive 5000mAh battery with 18W fast charging support. In terms of physical dimensions, the new Vivo Y3 measures 159.43 x 76.77 x 8.92mm and weighs 190.5 grams. On the software front, Vivo YY3 will be shipped with the company’s latest Funtouch OS 9 version, which happens to be based on Android 9 Pie. Some of the other key highlights include Face Unlock support, rear-mounted fingerprint sensor, and OTG reverse charging. It comes with Vivo’s Jovi AI assistant as well.
The Vivo Y3 is now listed on JD.com for CNY 1,498. Color options on offer include Peacock Blue, Peach Powder, and Ink Blue. There is no word yet on whether or not the Vivo Y3 will be launched in markets outside China.
